Do Not Buy Into These "Trends" About Robot Vacuum Mop Pet Hair

2024.08.09
The Best Robot Vacuum and Mop Combo

For pets that shed fur, a robot vacuum mop pet hair vacuum/mop combo is one of the best floor cleaning solutions. The machine can mop, vacuum and clean its own dual mop pad.

It also has 8,000Pa suction, the most of any robot that we've tested. It can also organize cleaning schedules and save maps of your home from its app.

1. Ecovacs Deebot X2 Omni

The X2 Omni is the latest in Ecovacs' line of hybrid robot vacuum-mop robots. This model is equipped with the company's upgraded AIVI 3D 2.0 lidar system, which offers improved mapping and obstacles avoidance. The system is Roborock S8 Dual Brush Robot Vacuum Cleaner-laser LiDAR which is similar to what is used in self-driving cars -- and can scan up to 32 feet in 270 degrees. That translates into more precise mapping, quicker response times, and higher cleaning accuracy.

It also has a rotating mopping mat made of chenille, making it easier to scrub hard areas than traditional mop. In my testing the X2 Omni took just over a minute to clean its pad and get to work. I also noticed that it was more precise than other models that seemed to follow a gridded route around rooms. It was able navigate corners and edges of my rooms and also make "Zambani patterns" up and down the middle of the room. It returned to its OMNI Station regularly to empty the dustbin, and clean the mop with hot water, before starting another cleaning task.

The X2 Omni is as simple to use and set up as other Ecovacs products. It takes only a few minutes to secure the dock into place, plug it in, and pair with your Wi-Fi network at home. You can then launch the app to begin your first cleaning task. I was able customize my floor plan within 15 minutes. This included creating restricted areas for mopping and sweeping as well as rearranging the positioning of wall-mounted furniture, and more. The X2 Omni was impressive during my tests. It scored well in the areas of pet hair removal as well as debris removal, and was near-perfect in its results for crevices and edge cleaning.

2. Deebot T10 Omni

The T10 Omni from ECOVACS is a powerful mopping and vacuum machine. It is the most advanced model of the T-line of the brand and comes with the brand's new OZMO Turbo 2.0 mopping system that utilizes dual-spinning brushes to provide more effective cleaning than traditional oscillating scrubbing. It also comes with YIKO built-in, a first-of-its-kind natural language processing tech that allows it to respond to a variety of voice commands. The ECOVACS App lets you design your home, create cleaning schedules and modify settings.

The T10 Omni's biggest flaw is that it cannot switch between vacuuming and mopping in one run. The T10 Omni comes with two modes that require you to attach mop heads to and from the vacuum according to your needs. This is fine for most households, but not so for those with busy lives.

The Deebot T10 is a fantastic robot vacuum that produces impressive results. It was able to remove more than 96% of the debris we threw at it on our hardwood flooring which is an impressive performance. It also did an excellent job with tile and carpet, removing over 99% of dirt and dust.

This robot vacuum and mop has a large docking system that allows for automatic cleaning with cool water for the mop pads. It also comes with an auto-emptying 3L bag that is easy to replace and hot air drying for fast and easy maintenance. It also comes with a large tank of water that allows it to be washed and dried more frequently between mopping sessions.

The Deebot T10 features a wash tray built into its base, similar to other mopping robots. It makes use of the wash tray to wash and dry the mop pads while using them. It doesn't have a removable tray so dirt, dust and other grime will gradually build up on the bottom.

3. RoboVac X8 Hybrid

This is the first mopping model from Anker which is well-known for its robot vacuums. It comes with upgraded smarts, multiple maps support, and LIDAR scanning, as well as twin-turbine suction technology that adjusts to the floor you're cleaning. It's a mid-range robotic cleaner that's appealing even if its promise of being a one-stop-shop for floor cleaning doesn't come true.

The X8 Hybrid looks like a standard robotic vacuum cleaner from the top with its circular design with sweeping wheels, as well as an elevated area for sensors. Flip it over, however there's an electric floor brush and a single side sweeper brush that carries dirt from the edges into the main pathway of the robot's'mouth'. It's a bit smaller than the main brushes of the iRobot Roomba S9, which I found makes it easier to access under couches and chairs.

The mapping system is quite sophisticated and allows you to set no-mop zones and specific cleaning zones. However, it has a tendency to bump into things (including its charging dock) and isn't always great in climbing over rug. It did a good job of removing pet hair from floors that were bare, though, and in our tests it was able to pick up 89.5% of kitty litter - a figure that puts it ahead of all but the strongest robots we've tested.

Although it can be controlled via the app it's also controllable via the app. X8 Hybrid also comes with physical buttons on its base that allow you to choose a cleaning mode and turn the robot on/off. These buttons can be used to set up areas that aren't allowed to enter and look up maps in real-time. It's a bit chatty and will let you know what it plans to do next ("start cleaning") or warn you that something's not right (it isn't able to charge, for example).

4. ILIFE A4s

This high-tech model sucks up pet hair, kibble, and other messes with remarkable effectiveness and effortlessly moves around furniture legs. It comes with a feature set that is impressive, such as two cleaning modes, an automatic docking station and real-time obstacles avoidance technology. It's Wi-Fi-connected and best robot vacuum for pet hair Self-emptying controlled via the Neato app which allows cleaning to be scheduled and the overall maintenance needs monitored. The X2 Omni is a great option for homes with a mix of hard and carpet flooring. However, it will need some planning in advance to avoid getting entangled with power cables, toys, or other obstacles that might be unexpected.

The robot performed well during our tests on hardwood floors and kibble. It picked up everything, from one rice grain to several dog food pieces, with just one pass. It had some difficulties transitioning to rugs but in general this vacuum cleaner is perfect for large rooms with both types of flooring and a mix of pets.

The A4s Pro is expensive but it's an excellent purchase for those who want to to leave the house without hands so that they can get out and do other things or take care chores. The A4s Pro also offers a convenient auto cleaning mode that boosts suction power to tackle tough spills and dirt and it is equipped with a battery-powered ElectroWall that allows you to place boundaries where the robot isn't allowed to access.

This budget-friendly model from a well-known upstart brand is the cheapest model we've tested to date and offers an exceptional value for the cost. Its navigation system is basic and uses a super-basic random pathing algorithm, but it doesn't have room mapping capabilities, making it less time efficient than the other models on this list. It's still able to get under furniture and into corners. And its mopping mode was very effective in our tests and picked up hairs that were straying and other debris.

5. Shark iQ

Shark's iQ may not be as sturdy, but it is better in cleaning pet hair off all surfaces. It cleans floors that are bare more efficiently and does a decent job on low-pile carpet and also utilizes smart-pathing navigational technology to provide superior maneuverability. It can be directed to a specific location, and has a suite of advanced automation features including no-go zones and schedules. It also allows you to suspend and resume cleaning sessions making it ideal for homes with pets.

The self-cleaning brushroll is able to prevent knots from pet hair and other debris, and its bagless self-emptying docking station can hold up to 30 days of dirt before it needs to be cleaned. It comes with angled side brushes to reach into corners and a multi-stage filter system that captures dust, allergens and dander.

This robot vacuum is well-built and feels solid. It has an app for smartphones which lets you alter the vacuum's settings and schedule cleaning times ahead of time. The app allows you to view the remaining battery life of the iQ and receive push notifications about any issues it encounters during a cleaning session. You can control it using your voice using an Amazon Alexa device or Google Assistant device. If you don't own either of these devices you can mark out areas with physical boundary markers strips.

However, it doesn't offer the same level of autonomy as our top picks. It's also costly, and its recurring costs can become expensive over time.
