'Drunk' RAF serviceman sexually assaulted sleeping female colleague

An RAF serviceman allegedly sexually assaulted his sleeping female colleague after a movie night while deployed in Poland, a court martial heard.
Air Specialist Andrew Lewins was 'very very drunk' when he, his roommate, and his alleged victim decided to go back and watch a film in his room together following an evening of boozing in the hotel bar.
The female colleague fell asleep but in the early hours of the morning was awoken to find AS1 Lewins had pulled down her leggings and sexually assaulted her.
Recalling the moment, the alleged victim said she felt 'scared', 'uncomfortable' and 'confused'.
AS1 Lewins, who is based at RAF Brize Norton station in West Oxfordshire, denied sexual assault at Bulford Military Court.

Prosecuting, Major James Eveleigh said following a busy day of work AS1 Lewins, the alleged victim, and other RAF colleagues went to the hotel restaurant and then the bar for food and drinks.

The female air specialist fell asleep in AS1 Lewins' bed, said she woke up to him assaulting her and then 'immediately got up, she put on her flip flops, her sliders, and she left the room.'
The prosecution said the alleged victim sent a text to AS1 Lewins' roommate to ask him to get her key card.
'[He] got it and she told him about what had happened,' Maj Eveleigh continued.
'They discussed it for a while then the decision was made to report it to the [sergeant] who was in a room on the floor below.
'The service police investigated the matter and on three separate occasions the defendant was given an opportunity to be interviewed under caution - he answered no comment at each stage.'

The female air specialist said during a police interview that a 'movie night' was suggested in the early hours of the morning following an evening of drinking.
'I had a couple of drinks so thought why not,' she said.
The female colleague described AS1 Lewins as being at nine out of 10 on the drunkeness scale.

'Andy did buy me a drink but he was very very drunk,' she said, 'I was tipsy but I wasn't like out of it.'
She told the officer that the three friends sat in AS1 Lewins hotel room and watched a film.
During the movie, she said they were 'having a deep conversation' before she eventually fell asleep in AS1 Lewins' bed.
In the early hours of the morning, at around 6am, the female air specialist said she woke to find AS1 Lewins' face close to hers 'like he wanted to kiss me'.
'At the time, my body just had so much adrenaline,' she continued.
'I was firstly, a bit scared - to be honest - I just didn't expect it. And secondly, I just didn't know what to do.
'I just felt so uncomfortable and a bit scared. I guess scared might be the wrong word. I was uncomfortable and confused.'
AS1 Lewins denied one count of sexual assault by penetration. Instead, he said other sexual activity took place but he had 'reasonable belief in her consent'.
The trial, expected to last four days, continues.
