The Best Self-Charging Robot Vacuum: Ideal for Hard Floors Vacuum and Mop Combo
A robot vacuum/mop set-up is the ideal solution for pets who shed fur. This machine can mop, vacuum and clean its own mop pad with dual mop pads.
It also has 8,000Pa suction, which is the highest of any robot we've evaluated. It also allows you to organize cleaning schedules and save your house's maps using its app.
1. Ecovacs Deebot X2 Omni
The X2 Omni robot vacuum-mop is the latest in Ecovacs line of hybrid robot vacuum mops. This wet/dry model includes the updated AIVI 3D2.0 lidar system from Ecovacs, which provides improved mapping and obstruction avoidance. The system is equipped with dual laser LiDAR, similar to that used in self-driving vehicles. It can scan an area up to 32 feet by the 270-degree angle. This means more precise mapping as well as faster response time and better cleaning accuracy.
It also features a rotating mopping pad constructed of chenille fabric. This makes it easier to scrub tough spots than traditional mops. In my tests the X2 Omni took just over an hour to clean its pad before getting to work. I also noticed that it was much more accurate than other models that seemed to follow a gridded path around rooms. It was able to navigate the corners and edges of my rooms and also create "Zambani patterns" both in and out of the middle of the room. It also returned to its OMNI station on a regular basis to empty the dustbin and wash the mop with hot water prior to beginning another clean-up job.
Like other Ecovacs products, the X2 Omni is easy to set up and begin using. It takes just a few minutes to put the dock in place, plug it in, and pair with your home Wi-Fi network. Then, you're able to start the app and begin with your first cleaning project. I was able to dive into the settings and personalize my floor plan within about 15 minutes, which included creating zones that are restricted for sweeping and robot vacuum mops mopping, reworking my wall-mounted furniture placements, and so on. The X2 Omni performed impressively in my tests, achieving excellent scores for the removal of pet hair and debris cleaning and near-perfect results in cleaning crevices and edges.
2. Deebot T10 Omni
The ECOVACS T10 Omni is an extremely powerful mopping and vacuum cleaner. It is the most advanced of the T-line offered by the company and features the brand new OZMO Turbo2.0 mopping system that utilizes a dual-spinning brush for superior cleaning than the traditional scrubbing. It also has YIKO integrated, a first-of-its kind natural language processing technology that can respond to a wide range of voice commands. The ECOVACS App allows you to design your home, create cleaning schedules and adjust settings.
The main drawback of the T10 Omni is that it can't switch from mopping to vacuuming in one run. The T10 Omni has two modes that require you to attach mop heads and take them off according to your needs. This is fine for most households, but not for those who lead busy lives.
The Deebot T10 is an excellent robot vacuum that produces impressive results. It removed more than 96% of the debris from our hardwood flooring. This is a remarkable performance. It did an excellent job on tiles and carpets and removed 99percent of dirt.
This robot mop and vacuum has large docking stations which offers cool water cleaning for the mop pads, auto-emptying into a 3L bag that is easy to replace, and hot air drying for quick and simple maintenance. It also has a huge water tank that allows for frequent washing and drying between mopping runs.
The Deebot T10 comes with an integrated wash tray into its base, similar to other mopping robots. It uses the wash tray to rinse and dry the mop pads while using them. However, it doesn't have an open tray, which means that dirty water dust, dirt and other grime slowly accumulates in the bottom of the tray over time.
3. RoboVac X8 hybrid
This is the first mopping model from Anker, which is known for its robot vacuums. It has improved smarts, multiple map support and LIDAR scanning, along with twin-turbine suction technology that adapts to the surface you're cleaning. It's a mid-range robotic cleaner that's stylish even if the claim of being a one-stop shop for floor cleaning doesn't quite be realized.
The X8 Hybrid looks like a traditional robotic vacuum cleaner from the top with its circular design with sweeping wheels, as well as a raised space for sensors. On the other hand, you'll see a motorised floorbrush and a single side brush that pushes dust from the edges into the main artery of its' mouth.' It's a bit smaller than the main brushes of the iRobot Roomba S9 which I found made it easier to reach under couches and chairs.
Its mapping system lets you set up no-mop areas and specific cleaning zones. It has a habit of hitting objects, including its own charging station, and isn't great at climbing over carpets. It was capable of picking up pet hair on bare floors, though, and during our tests, it was able to pick up 89.5 percent of litter - a figure that is higher than all but the strongest robots we've examined.
The X8 Hybrid is controlled via an app, however it also has physical buttons on its base. These buttons let you select a cleaning mode or turn the robot on/off. These buttons can be used to set up no-go areas and look up maps in real-time. It's a bit chatty as well, and will tell you what it's going to do next ("start cleaning") or alert you that something's wrong (it doesn't have enough power to charge, for example).
4. ILIFE A4s
This model is high-tech and sucks up pet hair, kibble and other messes with remarkable effectiveness and effortlessly moves around furniture legs. It also comes with an impressive feature set that includes two cleaning modes and a self-emptying dock and real-time obstacle avoidance technology. It is Wi-Fi-enabled and is best controlled through the Neato app where cleaning can be scheduled and the overall maintenance needs monitored. The X2 Omni is a great choice for large homes with a mix of carpet and hard floors. However, it will need some planning ahead to avoid getting entangled with power cables, toys, or other unintentional obstructions.
This robot did well in our tests on hardwood floors and kibble. It picked up everything from one rice grain to a variety of dog food pieces with just one pass. It had some issues with rugs, but in general, this vacuum cleaner is perfect for large rooms that have both types of flooring as well as a mixture of pets.
The A4s Pro is a bit expensive but it's an excellent option for those who wish to be able to leave the house hands-free so they can take on other tasks or do chores. The A4s Pro has a convenient auto-cleaning mode that increases suction to tackle the most difficult spills or dirt. It also includes a battery-powered ElectroWall to set boundaries for the robot.
This budget-friendly option from a popular upstart brand is the cheapest model we've ever tested and provides an exceptional value for the money. Its navigation system is basic and uses an extremely basic random pathing algorithm and lacks room mapping capabilities, which makes it less time efficient than other models on this list. It's still able to navigate under furniture and into the corners. Mopping mode was very effective in our tests, picking up stray hair and other debris.
5. Shark iQ
Shark's iQ isn't quite as well-built as the Roomba S9, but it is superior in general at getting rid of pet hair on all surfaces. It gets rid of floors with less thoroughly and does a good job on low-pile carpet, and it utilizes smart-pathing navigational technology to provide superior maneuverability. It also allows you to transfer it to a particular area, and its advanced set of automation features include no-go zones and scheduling. It can even to pause and resume a cleaning session, so it's perfect for homes with pets.
The self-cleaning brushroll eliminates tangles and can hold up to 30 day's worth of dirt. It has a set of side brushes that are angled to reach into corners and a multi-stage filter system that collects dust, dander and allergens.
This robot vacuum is well-built and feels solid. It has an app for smartphones that allows you to change the vacuum's settings and schedule cleaning sessions in advance. The app lets you view the remaining battery life and also receive push notifications for any problems it encounters during its cleaning process. You can use your voice to control it with an Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant device or, if you do not have either of these options, you can mark areas with physical boundary strips.
The iQ does a good job of cleaning flooring and doing a good job on shaggy and low-pile carpet, but it doesn't have the same degree of autonomy as our top choices. It's also costly, and its recurring expenses can add up over time.
